Welcome to McIntosh Class. This class is a mixture of Year 1 and Year 2 children.  I am Mrs Smith and I am the class teacher.  I work Monday-Thursday and Mrs Spence teaches on a Friday.  The Learning Facilitators that work in McIntosh Class are Mrs Niblock for Maths and Mrs Fitzsimons for ELS, Our class values are Honesty and Kindness.  We endeavour to follow these values in McIntosh Class. 

A typical day in McIntosh class looks like this:

• Handwriting and Class Novel
• Assembly
• Home time at 3:20pm

For Phonics we follow Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS) and Mrs Smith and Mrs Fitzsimons deliver these sessions.  Phonics is taught daily from EYFS through to Year 2.  Children bring home an ELS reading book every Friday to read as many times as possible throughout the week.  

Wednesday we have a Singing Assembly.

Friday we have a Celebration Assembly where parents are invited.

Wednesdays we have P.E with our SHARES Coach.

Thursdays we also have P.E.

It’s a good idea to leave P.E kits in school.  We send them home each half term. 

Year 1 children will complete a Phonics Screening Check in June to assess their phonic ability.

We follow Letter Join for handwriting. Your child should have brought home a login so they can access at home and practise.
