Together we make a family

Apple Class - Reception 2024 - 2025

Mrs Smith

Welcome to Reception, also known as Apple Class.

Our class value is CURIOSITY

We have a fantastic team working in our EYFS unit to ensure all our children settle into their new class.

Meet the Team

Mrs Smith – EYFS Lead / Class Teacher-Monday-Thursday

Mrs Spence – Class Teacher-Fridays

Mrs Fitzsimons – Nursery Lead Practitioner-every afternoon in Reception

Mrs Storey – Early Years Learning Facilitator

Miss Lee – Early Years Learning Facilitator

Mrs Mac – Early Years Learning Facilitator

Together we will ensure that each child has the best start to school life.

It is important to us that your children settle into school with support to become happy, confident, CURIOUS and independent learners.

In our EYFS unit we follow Development Matters which is a non-statutory framework which covers seven areas of learning, consisting of three prime areas and four specific areas.
All the areas of learning and development are inter-connected and will be delivered through a combination of planned, purposeful play, with a balance of adult-led and child-initiated independent activities. In Reception the children will have more focused whole-class teaching sessions and small guided group work. Throughout the year we will develop different themes and topics by following the children’s interests and likes.

A typical day in Reception:

How you can support your child at home

Reading with your child on a regular basis supports many areas of their development and helps their concentration skills.
All Reception children will have a book to read at home. Please leave a comment when you have read with your little one stating what they enjoyed and what they found tricky.

Together let us make this an amazing year for your little learners!

We hope you are excited as we are to see what this year will bring,
